With help from Local and state partnerships, Applied digital is driving housing development near the Ellendale data center, ensuring long-term stability and economic vitality in the region.
Applied Digital’s presence extends beyond its direct operations, delivering measurable benefits to residents and businesses alike:
By utilizing 10.5% of North Dakota’s net power generation, these facilities help reduce stranded power, energy congestion, and production curtailments.
In 2023, Montana-Dakota Utilities (MDU) returned $5.4 million to customers as a direct result of serving Applied Digital’s Ellendale data center. In 2024, MDU expects to return $14 million, saving the average residential customer $71.18 per year.
The construction of data centers has spurred increased spending in local businesses, resulting in higher taxable sales and purchases in Dickey and Stutsman counties.
Applied Digital is anticipating becoming Dickey County’s largest property taxpayer in 2025, contributing an estimated $850,000. In Stutsman County, it is projected to be among the top taxpayers, contributing $407,000 by 2026.
